Empowerment StaffOur on-site (Apartment #55) and off-site Empowerment Staff are a talented group of people devoted to serving the Village Community by recognizing and encouraging the skills and advantages already evident within individuals and families. The Empowerment Staff have committed to two years of living intentionally within the Village setting with the goal of providing resources and relationships that will help residents rise to lead and to serve one another. They have been trained in the CHE method of community development (see definition below) and guide and advise the Turner Foundation in programs and philosophies that will be the most advantageous for long-term, healthy community change.
The CHE (Community Health Education) Method: CHE's goal is to holistically integrate evangelism, discipleship, community based development, and leadership development. CHE also seeks to raise up leaders from community to train and equip them with skills so that there is sustainable leadership coming from within. We hope to do this through an "asset based" approach, raising up local leaders, and ultimately handing off leadership to community insiders.
Empowerment: Empowerment is the enhancement of individual's knowledge, awareness, and decision-making abilities. Leadership Empowerment consists of training leaders in the community to have an impact on their fellow neighbors. Holistic Development is long-term sustainable change that meets the physical, social, economic and spiritual needs of people. Transformational development unites the physical and spiritual needs and empowers communities to experience God's transformation through such work in a personally initiated and sustainable manner.
