The Commission will be hosting a seminar/training on mental illness and alcohol/drug addiction.  The event will be held at The Village Community Center from 6-9pm on a Monday night in September (either the 8th or the 15th--to be announced soon). The training will be done by Jason Tarman and Isabel Blagborne.  Jason has worked with dually diagnosed (those with both substance abuse and mental illness) individuals for the past 10 years.  Isabel is a recovery specialist with well over 20 years experience (much of which has been with the homeless population).  They have both participated in similar training programs (for the county, police, UCSB students) and we should all leave more equipped to understand and respond to addiction we encounter.
