Residential Assistant (Mixed House)
Resident Assistant (RA)
Location: Santa Barbara, CA
Live-in Position | Rent-Free Private Room
Full-Time, Part-Time, or Contract | Stipend: $1,650/month
The Turner Foundation is seeking a Resident Assistant (RA) to live on-site and support transitional-aged youth (18–24) in one of our Foundation Houses. This role is essential in creating a supportive community, maintaining a safe environment, and encouraging personal growth as residents focus on their education, employment, and long-term stability.
The RA serves as a mentor, resource, and consistent presence in the home—supporting residents during evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. This is a unique opportunity for someone who can balance leadership, community building, and crisis response while living in the house as a steady support.
What You’ll Do
Ensure the home is safe, clean, and well-maintained
Provide evening and overnight supervision
Support resident check-ins and lead house meetings
Respond to emergencies and coordinate maintenance issues
Communicate regularly with the Director of Programs
Maintain participant safety, program standards, and documentation
Participate in staff meetings, training, and resident move-ins
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree required
1+ year experience working with transitional age youth or individuals experiencing homelessness
Strong interpersonal, administrative, and crisis management skills
Must be self-motivated, adaptable, and able to set healthy boundaries
CPR/First Aid certification preferred (required upon hire)
Must pass background check, physical exam, and TB test
Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required
At the Turner Foundation, we believe in building community through consistent care and service. Our Foundation Houses are a place for young adults to stabilize, grow, and thrive—with RAs playing a key role in making that possible.
